I’m so looking forward to this quiet, relaxing, and small Christmas at home. We rarely stay here in North Carolina for Christmas and with Covid all the usual festivities that take up so much of our time are cancelled. Just traveling to Kentucky to see tons of various extended family members (which we will miss!) is a huge ordeal for our family of five with all of the gifts and packing. I’m thankful for the time that we will have to slow down, reflect, worship the birth of our Savior, and enjoy time together as a family.
Y’all know me and my tendency to only decorate with minimal decor for Christmas, preferably natural materials and a few special things. This year is no different. We continued our tradition of getting a live Christmas tree, but I may think about some new ornaments next year to go with our Moravian Christmas theme going on.
The girls enjoyed helping decorate the year (but not for long!) and my toddler amazingly has no interest in pulling off the ornaments. Even if there is no snow for me to admire out my kitchen windows, I still have these sweet nostalgic snowy prints to pretend with 🙂
I like to display my nativity up on our mantel–it makes such striking focal point and reminder of why we celebrate the holiday.
There is nothing better than relaxing by a warm fire with a hot mug in your hand in the comfort of your home!
Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, holiday season this year! I encourage you to take the pressure off yourselves for having a “normal” Christmas, and embrace slowing down and focusing on what is most important.
